Family group pictures are important and don’t have to be boring!
As most of you will know I am passionate about recording a bit of family history for people. Families come in all shapes and sizes and no matter the combination or number of family members I feel it is important that we freeze time every so often to record everyone, as they are, today. Many people are put off by family portrait sessions as they have a very formal, traditional and formulaic line up kind of imagery in their head. This does not have to be the case… Whilst some group set ups are necessary I like to keep these informal and blend them in with some candid imagery.
Giving a photo shoot as a gift can help everyone update their photo collection
Lately I have noticed an increased number of people purchasing a family portrait session as a gift to the head of the family (often Mum, Grandma or, in this case Great Grandma) for a special birthday, Christmas or Mothers day present. This is a cracking opportunity for the whole family to top up their photograph collection with a chance to capture a fantastic range of imagery. An opportunity to get lots of combinations of different family groupings including couples, parents with children, brothers, sisters, immediate family, extended family, cousins, grandparents… whatever combination you like really! These are achievable even in the winter months. This is one of my favourites from last year, a Christmas present to great grandma shot in November.
