Why Shoot?

I shoot to remember. Simply to freeze a few moments from this beautifully chaotic stage of our lives before we move onto the next chapter of our story. Those little bodies, faces, mannerisms and little quirks constantly changing and moving onto the next, slightly more grown up stage of their childhood. Equally beautiful, yet different. Let’s capture a few moments at key stages along the way for you to treasure.

My sessions are focused very much around what I personally like to remember as a mum. Not just the faces, the details and things that we love to do, but more important than all of that, the connection and the love between us. A feeling that you get when you look at a photograph.

 So come and join us and make memories of your own family.  Step off the treadmill of life for just one hour.  You wont regret it!

Why I shoot on location

To capture families in the most genuine and relaxed way I choose to shoot out on location where children (and adults) can feel at home and more relaxed. It also creates a backdrop that means something to you, a specific beach, family farm, moorland, woods or parkland that your family have been visiting for years. Or maybe you want to record your day to day life at home. The location provides another layer to your story, a special place maybe with special memories. It creates a beautiful, personal landscape for your wall art and a prompt to talk about your family stories. A million miles away from a traditional portrait.

How it works

Choose a package

Our packages, detailed below, each come with a set number of digital files and beautiful prints. Choose a package that suits you, based around how many images you need.   You can add extra digital files, prints, books, albums or wall art at a later point if you so wish.

Plan your shoot

Start the ball rolling by filling in the contact form below.   You will automatically receive our beautiful pdf to inspire you and help you plan your session.   We will then be in touch to discuss where you want to shoot, who you want to include and anything in particular that you want to capture.  A great opportunity for me to understand your family and build a shoot to help you remember your uniqueness.

Your shoot

Your shoot will take place at a location of your choosing and will last approximately 1 hour.  It will be relaxed and informal.  I will guide you with some ideas of things to do then I will step back and simply take some moments.  You don’t even need to look at the camera if you don’t want to!

After your shoot

After your shoot you will receive a link to an online gallery from which you can choose the images from your package.  Additional digital files, prints, books and wall art can be ordered at this point if you so wish.  Turnaround time varies for different products so if you need them for a specific date please do let me know!

Packages

Our packages have been carefully crafted to offer ultimate flexibility.   We recognise the importance of digital files for those wanting to create their own books, albums, frames or other family keepsakes. Each digital file has been carefully edited to create beautiful pieces of hand crafted artwork. They are made available to you as a high-quality jpeg files ready for you to print from as you wish.

We also recognise that not everyone has the time or inclination to do this.  For those keen to hand this over, we offer a beautiful selection of hand picked products (see below) to help create the most exquisite family heirlooms.   Simply choose your images and we will do the rest – books ready for the coffee table and frames ready to be hung.

*Mileage is included for a radius of 20 miles from Exeter.  Additional mileage chargeable at £0.5/ mile.

The value of physical products

At the very heart of this photography business of mine is the genuine desire for people to have something physical, that you can touch to help you remember. Something that can be handed down through generations in a similar way that our grandparents photographs have been handed down to us. This is why I give beautiful prints with all my digital files so you have a family heirloom to keep or frame immediately. I love the idea that you might one day huddle around your kitchen table and talk about people and places with your family, their children and many generations that follow.

Our beautifully presented gift vouchers are popular for those looking to gift something really personal to a family.  It may be to mark the arrival of a new baby, a retirement or a significant birthday.  Many use them for extended family photo shoots for a 70th birthday involving all the family from the tiniest baby to the greatest grandparent!  A true family heirloom and a great opportunity for the whole extended family to update their photo collection.
